To Be Rich … Part 1

Licking

My parents had been divorced all of my life, so it was not something that I was hung up on, but there were parts of it that I did not like. The worst part of them being divorced was that they lived on different sides of the country. My mother lived in Florida, to be close to my grandmother and my father lived in California, because that is where his job was located. What this means is … I travelled a lot. I spent my school year in Florida with my mom, which was fine, that was where most of my friends were anyways, and then I spent the summers at my dads. Being the busy man that he was, I spent most of this time alone, whether it was at the house or roaming around the city. I have to admit, I did not mind that part at all. I loved the freedom I had when I was there. So you could understand how I was sad to be leaving my home for the summer, but the sweet smell of freedom made it completely worth it. I was off to a land of just myself and whatever I wanted to do and I was excited. I had saved up so much money this year to go shopping and buy the clothes I desire all year to by and flirt with the boys I so desired to flirt with. The time had come and not a second too soon “Are you ready to be going Clara?” My mother asked me, standing between the car and the door. She had her keys in her hand and gave me a big smile. “We don’t want to be late and have you miss your plane.” “I’m ready,” I answered, turning back to my best friend Carli and giving him the biggest hug I could. Being away from her was always the hardest part, but we had made a pact to talk on the phone everynight and text about anything and everything.  “I’ll miss you,” she whispered in my ear.” “I’ll miss you too,” I assured her, pulling away from our hug and giving her a smile. “I will text you when I land.” “Okay,” she nodded, as I climbed into my mothers car and buckled myself up. I really was going to miss that girl. ______________ I brought way to Erzurum Escort many thing on my carry on, so much that they almost did not let me through with it. It was a long flight though and I needed whatever I could to keep my entertained. Listening to music only got me so far and with there being no internet, my computer was pretty pointless unless I was watching a movie or something. I tried reading, but books were hard to concentrate on with the slight hint of air going by on the outside of the plane. I don’t know what it was, but if my ears couldn’t focus, neither could my eyes.  “Where are you headed,” a voice broke through my hard work of trying to concentrate. I turned my head to the side to get a look at the guy who had sat down next to me. Was I breathless, oh I was breathless. Sitting next to me was an amazing looking man. He was tall, as far as I could tell and very handsome, with short brown hair and deep brown eyes. He had eyes that you could get lost in and I believe that for a short time, that is what I was, I was lost in this man.  “Um,” I tried to find my words, forgetting where I was going, along with my name and any other possible thing this person could possibly ask about me. “California. What about you?” “Same,” he laughed, flashing me a smile of his perfectly straight, amazingly white teeth. He had what I like to call celebrity teeth, just a little too on the perfect side. That only made me want to run my tongue over them and feel just how amazing them were.  “Cool,” I let out, trying to sounds cool but really just seeming like some idiot seventeen year old girl who had no idea how to talk with men.  We sat there in silence after that for almost an hour. I had no idea what to say to him or even knew if he wanted me to talk, so I decided to pull out my laptop and write a little bit. It was just something that I did to pass the time, and it usually passed it by pretty Erzurum Escort Bayan quick. “What are you writing,” he asked, which almost made me jump. I had forgotten that he was there to begin with and the pull back to reality was a startling one.  “Just random things,” I said smiling over at him. “It just passes the time by, there is not really any one thought or idea.” “Yeah,” he agreed, “I can totally get that. I write a lot, and sometimes I look over what I am writing to realize that there are like six stories all thrown together into one and nothing makes sense, but it does make for a good read or laugh if I need one.” “I am sure mine would probably make for more of a laugh than a good read,” I said jokingly, though I was slightly serious. I was never really a fan of my own work, there was always room for improvement in my opinion. “I doubt that,” he commented, looking over my shoulder slightly before bringing his eyes back to me. Once again I was lost in the power that they held over me. __________________ “Well it was a pleasure getting to know you a little bit..” he paused, holding his hand out to me. “You know I don’t believe that I asked your name.” “Clara,” I smiled, shaking his hand. “My name is Clara.” “Well Clara, I am Brian.” He responded with his own name. “It was nice to meet you.” “Yes,” I agreed, “It was very nice to meet you.” “Maybe,” he continued talking, even though to conversation felt like it was supposed to end. I was not mad at this, just curious what would make him still want to talk to me. “Maybe we could meet up sometime, since you are here all summer.” “I would,” I paused, nerves building in my stomach. “I would really like that.” “Here,” he smiled, pulling a card from his pocket and handing it to me. “This is my card, my personal number is on the back. Give me a call sometime.” “Yeah,” I nearly whispered as the nerves grew deeper. “I will do that.” “Good,” Escort Erzurum he nodded, before walking away, “I will be waiting for your call.” That was that. He was gone and I was left standing there in the middle of the airport with his card in hand. It was one of those moments where it felt like I was the only thing not moving as the world raced around me. Would I be able to call him? _________________ Two weeks in and I still had not called him. I was sure by now he had forgotten all about the teenage girl he met randomly on an airplane. I was half tempted to lose his phone number and forget about him all together. “I think you should call him,” Carli suggested. We had been talking about him for a while now, ever since I met him on the plane. She thinks I am obsessed and the only way to get over my obsession is to call him. “You will never know if he remembers you or not unless you call him.” “God, you are so annoying sometimes,” I grumbled into the phone, “do you know that about yourself?” “Only because I make valid points and you lose,” she laughed into the phone at me. “Look, call him. I am going to head out, mom wants to go shopping so I can’t pass that up. I will call you later okay?” “Yeah okay,” I grumbled, rolling over on my bed and grabbing Brian’s card off my nightstand.  “Call him,” she said one more time before hanging up on me, not allowing me the chance to argue it. I buried my head into my pillow and let out a small yell. I was so nervous. I was the worst at calling people and this could go all wrong. What if he did not remember me? What if he was only being polite and really did not want to talk to me? What would I even say? All these questions raced through my head, leaving me unaware that I was in the process of dialing his number. I was brought back to reality when I heard the ringing through my phone. “Hello,” A voice picked up on the other end of the line. I could feel my heart stop in my chest, as if I were going to fall over right then and there. “Hello.” “Uh…” I began, my voice getting caught in my throat. “Um is this Brian?” “Yes,” he answered, his voice pushing past my mind and making me shake, as if we were still sitting next to each other on that plane.
